She completed her undergraduate education in ELT at Anadolu University. She received an MA and a Ph.D in Foreign Language Teaching from Ankara University. She began her career as an English teacher at various primary and secondary schools and later joined Hacettepe University. She worked there between 1998 and 2001 as an instructor in the school of foreign languages and the Department of Linguistics. She worked at Başkent University, Faculty of Education from 2002 to 2015. She served as the head of the Foreign Language Education Department at the same faculty. She was also the editor of the journal of the Faculty, ERASMUS coordinator of the Faculty, practicum coordinator of the Foreign Language Education Department, and consultant/member of the Board of the Science. She was a visiting professor at the University of West Bohemia, Faculty of Education, and the University of Bologna, Faculty of Psychology. Her main research interests are curriculum and instruction in foreign language teaching, learning authonomy, and instructional methods and approaches.
