Catalog Description
Turkish curriculum. Basic language skill. The relationship and functions of basic language skills. Teaching reading. Writing teaching. Listening/ viewing instruction. Grammar teaching. Vocabulary teaching. The importance and functions of the text in Turkish teaching. Text processing and analysis process. Methods and techniques in Turkish teaching. Measurement and evaluation in Turkish teaching.
Course Objectives

With this course, it is aimed to teach prospective teachers the theoretical and practical competencies related to the processes to be followed in the design, implementation and evaluation of language skills teaching in Turkish teaching.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

 

  1. describe the relationship between reading, writing, speaking and listening language skills,
  2. explain contemporary methods and techniques that can be used in teaching basic language skills,
  3. argue the process of reading, writing, speaking and listening as interactive involving reader, text, and contextual factors,
  4. apply components of fostering language arts comprehension and metacognition in teaching plans,
  5. assemble various methods for classroom measurement for Turkish instruction especially to allow for differentiation of prior knowledge.
