Catalog Description
Approaches to different student needs such as course design in English Language Teaching, English as second / foreign / international / special purpose / academic language; current practices such as constructivist approach, content-oriented, task-oriented, problem-focused, holistic language teaching, multiple intelligence and holistic language approach; second language / foreign language teaching and cultural teaching in language teaching, use of technology in language classes, place of communication in the developing world and intercultural interaction.
Course Objectives

This course is designed to teach students in the field concepts of changes and innovation in English language teaching over the years including technological innovations, contextual changes (i.e. learner diversity), global perspectives, reflective teaching, and innovation in curriculum and assessment.

At the end of this class students will be able to;

1) Define concepts of change and innovation,

2) Describe changes in ELT over the years,

3) Identify technological innovations that have changed English language teaching,

4) Discuss contextual changes such as migration and learner diversity,

6) Discuss innovation in language curriculum, teaching and evaluation.
