This course aims to help students discuss the definitions of the concept of social skill. It is designed to develop students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes to examine the dimensions of the concept of social skill and the relationships among them. The goal is to enhance students’ academic growth in identifying certain social skills and help them build those skills in their students in primary education. The course also aims to advance students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes to assess and evaluate the development of social skills. It is designed to encourage students to analyze primary school curricula in terms of suggested social skills. Lastly, it aims to develop students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes to identify exemplary social skills and apply sample activities.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- discuss the definitions of the concept of social skill,
- analyze the relationship among the dimensions of the concept of social skill,
- identify target social skills for students in primary education,
- apply appropriate pedagogical methods and techniques in developing students’ social skills,
- develop exemplary activities for developing students’ social skills,
- assess and evaluate students’ social skills,
- analyze primary school curricula in terms of the development of social skills.
