Catalog Description
Course Objectives

The major objective of this course is to analyze the dynamics of Middle Eastern politics from an historical perspective. The course aims to provide the students with critical knowledge on the key issues and conflicts in the region.

Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. Identify and explain the key issues and conflicts in the Middle Eastern politics since 18th century up to present. 
2. Understand the impact and political strategies of imperial powers in the Middle Eastern region.
3. Understand the nature and dynamics of the nation –building process and nationalist movements in the region.
4. Understand the relations between the regional states/groups.
5. Analyze and critically assess the emerging political, economic and social issues in the region.
6. Construct well-structured and coherent arguments on Middle Eastern politics.
7. Communicate effectively in speech and writing.
