The course focuses on the fundamental models and methods utilized in power system analysis. The generality of these models and methods makes them equally applicable to analysis of small-scale industrial power systems, local distribution grids, and national transmission systems.
Having successfully completed this course, students will be able to:
LO-1: Understand the fundamentals (e.g., instantaneous power, complex power, network equations, three-phase circuits, etc.) of power system analysis.
LO-2: Learn the ideal power transformers, equivalent circuits for practical transformers, and three-winding transformers.
LO-3: Analyze transmission line parameters (e.g., resistance, conductance, and capacitance).
LO-4: Define steady-state operation (i.e., lossless lines, maximum power flow) of transmission lines.
LO-5: Characterize power flows and solve power-flow problems.
