He graduated from TED College in 1973.
Mr. Acar took his undergraduate degree from the Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences in Ankara. He received his MS degree in Banking and Insurance from the same university. He attained his MA degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.
Mr. Aclan Acar started his career in 1974 at the state-owned Halkbank, he joined the Central Bank of Turkey in 1978 where he served in different departments until 1990. In 1990 he joined the Dogus Group. He served as Executive Vice President of Garanti Bank, as Chief Executive Officer of Bank Ekspres and Ottoman Bank, as Board Member of Dogus Group. Between the years 2001-2005 he served as the Chairman of Tansas, as the Chairman of Garanti Insurance and Garanti Pension Company, as the Chairman of Dogus Otomotiv and Dogus Oto Pazarlama and as the Chairman and CEO of Dogus Media Group. Since March 2019 Mr. Acar serves as a Board Member of Türk Telekom. In 2019 he established his own advisory company. By the way he serves as a board member of Nuh Çimento and QUA Granit and as Advisor of Global Exchange Company.
