Aclan Acar

He graduated from TED Ankara College in 1973.

Aclan Acar started his career at Halk Bank in 1974 and continued his banking career at the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey in 1978, working in various departments of this institution until 1990. He joined Doğuş Group in September 1990. His first position in the Group was Assistant General Manager at Garanti Bank. Between 1994 and 1996, he served as the General Manager of Bank Ekspres, which was acquired by Doğuş Group. Following the acquisition of Osmanlı Bankası by Doğuş Group in June 1996, he was appointed as the General Manager of the Bank. Aclan Acar, who served as a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Doğuş Holding A.Ş. since April 2000, was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tansaş in 2001. Between 2002 and 2006, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Garanti Sigorta A.Ş. and Garanti Emeklilik A.Ş. Between February 2006 and March 2018, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Doğuş Otomotiv Servis Ticaret A.Ş. and Doğuş Oto Pazarlama A.Ş. Aclan Acar was appointed as the Chairman and CEO of Doğuş Media Group in March 2018 and left Doğuş Group in December 2018. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Türk Telekom between March 2019 and March 2022. In 2019, he established his own consulting company. Acar currently serves as a board member at Nuh Çimento, Panora GYO, Lider Faktoring and Denge Varlık, and as a consultant at Global Exchange A.Ş. Between 2022 and 2024, he served as a Board Member at QUA Granit A.Ş. Aclan Acar also served as an independent member of the Board of Directors of Tüpraş A.Ş. between March 2002 and April 2005 and serves on the boards of trustees of TED University and TED Istanbul College.

Aclan Acar graduated from Ankara Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences, Department of Business Administration and Accounting and received his postgraduate degree in Banking and Insurance from the same faculty. He also did his graduate studies in Economics at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, USA in 1985-1986. 

Aclan Acar, who has participated in seminars organized in Turkey and abroad on many different topics, is the author of various articles and researches such as “Techniques Applied in Foreign Exchange Transactions”, “Gold Transactions”, “Recent Developments in the Foreign Trade Policies of the Republic of Turkey”, "Export Credits and Export Credit Insurance: Applications in Turkey“, ”Optimum Foreign Exchange Reserve Composition for Developing Countries" and other articles and research papers. In addition, he has given seminars and published articles on the successful exchange programs that have recently taken place, especially at Bank Ekspres and Ottoman Bank, of which he was the manager. He published his first book “Just in Time-Transformation Management in the Light of My Experiences” in 2020.

Born in 1954 in Ankara, Aclan Acar is married with one child.
