Nihan Soycan completed her undergraduate studies in the Department of Foreign Language Education at Middle East Technical University (METU). She earned her master’s degree from METU’s Educational Administration and Planning Department with a thesis focusing on the development of teacher identity. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in the Area Studies Department at the same university.

She has taught English in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education as well as in higher education, including English preparatory programs and undergraduate courses.

Her research interests include state-society relations, social movements, and education policies. Her work examines how intellectual and social orientations are shaped in everyday life within the contemporary social dynamics of Turkey and the Middle Eastern context. She also contributes to the ongoing discussions on critical pedagogy in Turkey.
