Catalog Description
Introduction to mechatronics. Microcomputer based control systems. Interfaces, sensors and actuators. Basic control electronics. Discrete time systems. Design of discrete controllers. Real time programming for control. Design case studies.
Course Objectives

The concept of Mechatronics, examples of mechatronic systems, sensors, sensoe fusion, actuators, control systems, estimation and identification, case studies.

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

LO1. Students will be able to define the mechatronic components in a complex mechatronic system;

LO2. Students will be able to understand the difference of a mechatronic design approach from a just control system design;

LO3. Students will be able to collect and analyze data to identify the characteristics of a mechatronic system;

LO4. Students will be able to design and implement basic control systems for a mechatronic system.

LO5. Students will be able to understand the differences between the analog and digital control systems.
