Political science as means of understanding the political; Politics and knowledge; Political beliefs and belief systems; Political culture; Political ideologies; Political actions;. Party systems; Political socialization; State and nation; Political system; Political institutions.

Course Objectives

The main objective of this course is to familiarize students with the scope of the discipline of political science. The course provides a broad overview of key concepts, themes, and debates in political science. It introduces the principal approaches used to study politics and political phenomena. By examining diverse political systems and ideas, the course lays the foundation for further study in political science. 

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Define the fundamental concepts, themes, and debates of political science. 

2. Describe the scope of political science and its major sub-disciplines. 

3. Explain the importance of active citizenship for democratic politics. 

4. Identify the ethical dimensions of political issues. 

5. Explain political concepts and ideas clearly in written and oral communication.
