Catalog Description
Origins, dynamics, and consequences of social and political movements. Approaches and theories of reform, revolution, and social movements. Study of historically important cases.
Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to explore origins, dynamics and consequences of social and political movements. Throughout the course, the definitions and theories of reform, revolution, and social movements will be taken up with reference to the historically important cases.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. Conceive the complex basis of mass movements
2. Discern the significant differences and similarities between the notions of reform, revolution and rebel
3. Explain and understand the significance of leadership in mass movements.
4. Gain an important insight about the relationship between politics and human psychology
5. Develop particular reasoning by referring to some actual historical cases.
6. Develop complex argumentation skills in speech and writing.
