Catalog Description
Structure of financial markets and financial intermediaries. Central banking system. Monetary policy. Financial markets: bond, stock, mortgage-backed security and derivative markets. Institutional investors such as investment banks and mutual funds.
Course Objectives
The main objective of this course is to explain the structure of financial markets and financial intermediaries.
Software Usage
Students will use MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) to work on their weekly assignments about 2 hours a week.

Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. Describe the structure of financial markets and financial intermediaries
2. Recognize the structure of competition in the financial markets
3. Identify the risk and term structure
4. Describe the tactics and strategies used in the conduct of monetary policy
