General concepts of testing and evaluation; test preparation; types of tests; alternative assessment methods.
Course Objectives

This course aims at providing students with the necessary skills of basic measurement and evaluation methods and techniques in ELT. Students will practice and apply measurement and evaluation techniques to test reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and vocabulary skills of students at appropriate levels of proficiency

Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • Analyze fundemental concepts of measurement and evaluation,
  • Relate theories and basic concpts of measurement and evaluation with contemporary ELT methodology,
  • Prepare test items/questions to evaluate listening comprehension,
  • Prepare test items/questions to evaluate speaking comprehension.
  • Prepare test items/questions to evaluate reading comprehension,
  • Prepare test items/questions to evaluate writing comprehension,
  • Prepare test items/questions to evaluate grammar comprehension,
  • Prepare test items/questions to evaluate vocabulary proficiency.
