Introduction to cognitive processes in humans. Historical review of developments that led to the emergence of cognitive psychology. Overview of perception and attention. Basic memory processes. Practical aspects of memory. Major issues in language and thinking.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Learn the history and methods used in the science of sensation and perception.

2. Learn the structure of the major sensory systems.

3. Learn the transduction and transmission processes for the major sensory systems.

5. Learn how perceptual information helps us in our lives.

6. Learn additional applications of sensation and perception information.

7. Learn about the changes to sensation and perception over the lifecycle.
