Catalog Description
Historical foundations, principals and research approaches of evolutionary psychology. Evolutionary psychological explanations for key psychological concepts such as cognition, emotion, bonding, parenting, group behavior, abnormal behaviors and culture from a comparative perspective. Proximate and ultimate causes underlying behaviors and cognitive skills.

At the end of this class students will be able to;

  1. Analyze what is evolutionary theory and how it has contributed to the study of psychology
  2. Identify the significance of evolutionary psychology as an interdisciplinary field bridging contemporary psychology, behavioral genetics, neuroscience and biology
  3. Identify similarities and differences in behavioral processes in different species
  4. Build a comparative cognition perspective
