Prof. Dr. Ayşe Bilge Şelçuk
Ayşe Bilge Selçuk is a professor of psychology whose work bridges scientific research and applied practice in life-span human development.
She graduated from TED Ankara College in 1989 and earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees in psychology from Middle East Technical University, followed by a PhD from the University of Melbourne, all with high distinction. Early in her career, she served as a social policy assistant to Mümtaz Soysal, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and professor of constitutional law, at the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
In 2003, she joined the Department of Psychology at Koç University as a faculty member. In recognition of her contributions, she was named an Honorary Senior Research Fellow by the University of Queensland and received the Prof. Mustafa Parlar Research Award. In 2022, she left Koç University to focus on a scientist-practitioner model of work and subsequently taught at MEF University for three years, offering courses on psychological well-being.
Her expertise spans life-span psychological development, psychological resilience, healthy child-rearing, and child and adolescent psychology. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, numerous conference papers, opinion articles, and four books for the general public originally published in Turkish: İnsan Her Koşulda (Human Through It All), Her Koşulda Ebeveynlik (Parenting Through It All), Psikolojik Sağlamlık (Psychological Resilience), and Dijital Çağda Sağlıklı Çocuk Yetiştirmek (Rearing Healthy Children in the Digital Age). She currently provides consultancy to families and institutions, delivers seminars, and continues her writing.
