Prof. Yelda H. Ongun
Prof. Dr. Yelda Ongun completed her primary, secondary, and high school education at TED Ankara College, from which she graduated in 1987.
She received her Bachelor’s degree from Middle East Technical University, her Master’s degree from Hacettepe University, and her Ph.D. from Gazi University.
Prof. Ongun previously served as Chair of the Department of Political Science and International Relations and as Director of the Strategic Studies Implementation and Research Centre (BÜSAM) at Başkent University, where she currently holds the position of Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
She has published numerous scholarly articles and edited volumes in national and international academic journals. In addition to her duties at Başkent University, she has lectured at several institutions, including TOBB University of Economics and Technology, the Turkish Military Academy, the Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Academy, and Ufuk University, offering both undergraduate and graduate courses.
Throughout her academic career, Prof. Ongun has participated in many national and international conferences, seminars, and panels. She also serves on the editorial and advisory boards of several academic journals.
An active member of various professional and civil organizations, Prof. Ongun is affiliated with the TED Alumni Association, K-Human Committee, TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Board, ANKAFOR High Advisory Board, Harvard University Central Eurasian Society, and the Global Relations Forum (GRF).
Her primary research interests include Turkish Foreign Policy, Central Asia and the Caucasus, Diplomatic History, Türkiye–U.S. Relations, and Political History.
