Prof. Dr. Belgin Elmas, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages at TED University Faculty of Education, has been elected as Pearson GSE Ambassador for Turkey. The Global Scale of English (GSE), developed by Pearson to contribute to English language education, aims to measure the level of English in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills and shows what learners should learn in each skill according to their level.

Armin Laschet was presented with a Doctor Honoris Causa (honorary doctorate) degree at a ceremony held at TED University Kolej Campus on February 9.

Büşra Elmaderesi, who continued her education with us in our English Language Teaching undergraduate and graduate programs, and Şebnem Cengiz, who graduated from our graduate program, were entitled to go to Michigan and Arizona with Fulbright's FLTA Program this year.

One of our students, Büşra Elmaderesi, will continue their education at Michigan State, Less Commonly Taught Languages Program, and Şebnem Cengiz will continue their education at The University of Arizona, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, School of Middle Eastern and North African Studies.

Our Head of Department Prof. Dr. Belgin Elmas wrote an article titled "When do we start dreaming in another language?” for Cumhuriyet Newspaper's 100th Anniversary Education Special issue. In this special issue, academics and experts, including Prof. Dr. Selçuk Şirin, Prof. Dr. Üstün Dökmen, Ali Ekber Şahin, Futurist Ufuk Tarhan, told about the goals of raising a human being for the second century, and what has been done and what needs to be done in the way of modern education.

The article titled "Is Education Really a Must?" written by our department head Prof. Dr. Belgin ELMAS and Elif Naz Oğuz has been published in the Cumhuriyet News' website.
