Ercan Gündoğan received his PhD in Political Science and Public Administration from Middle East Technical University in 2005. Before joining TEDU as a part-time faculty member in 2022, he taught full-time in the departments of political science, public administration, international relations, and economics at EUL, Universum University College, GAU, and CIU, and as a visiting professor at Corvinus University of Budapest. After earning his first associate professorship in Political Science and International Relations in Northern Cyprus, he became an associate professor of Political Thought in Türkiye.

Gündoğan works primarily within a dialectical theoretical framework, focusing on political and social theory, political economy, world politics, and political and social geography. He has published books, articles, and conference proceedings, primarily in English, and has also written periodic newspaper columns. He also writes in his own blog.
