Ergün Alkan graduated from TED Ankara Koleji in 1963. Later, he graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law. Initially, he worked as a freelance lawyer, then worked as a lawyer and manager at Ray Insurance Co. and Gama Group companies. He served as General Manager and Board Member for a long time at Gama Trade and Tourism Co.
He held positions as a Board Member on the Boards of Directors of the Türk Eğitim Derneği Association, TED Ankara Koleji Foundation, TED Ankara Koleji Alumni Association, and Kolejliler Sports Club. He still has been the Chairman of Honorary Council of TED Ankara Koleji Alumni Association.
Alkan, who played volleyball and coached at the Kolejliler Sports Club, later served as Vice President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation.
Ergün Alkan is married and has two children and two grandchildren.
