Catalog Description
Definition of culture; the relationship between education and culture; the place of culture in child development and education; development and characteristics of Turkish culture; children in Turkish culture; the place and value of child in Turkish society and family, child education, characteristics and elements of Turkish culture from past to present.
Course Objectives
The main of this course is to recognize family and child culture, to have information about family and child in Turkish culture from past to present, to examine what kind of changes in childhood, to assimilate child-family-society relationship in social and cultural context.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to
- explain the basic concepts of family and culture,
- explain the perceptions of family and children in Turkish culture in the past and present,
- recognize different perspectives on childhood,
- analyze the effects of processes such as family, education, society and culture on the construction of childhood.
