Catalog Description
Basic theory of turbomachinery; dimensionless parameters and similarity laws; performance characteristics of turbomachines. Fundamentals of aerodynamics; airfoil geometry; lift and drag characteristics of airfoils. Fundamentals of compressible flow; normal shock relations; oblique shock and expansion waves; numerical techniques for supersonic flow.
Course Objectives

Turbomachinery, dimensionless parameters and similarity laws; performance characteristics of turbomachines, Fundamentals of external flow,  aerodynamics, lift and drag characteristics of airfoils, Fundamentals of compressible flow, normal shock relations, oblique shock and expansion waves, numerical techniques for supersonic flow.
