Catalog Description
Basic subjects of anthropology and the concept of culture. The history of cultural anthropology and cultural change. Culture and values. The concepts related to culture (language, ecology, modes of production and economy). Gender, marriage, family, kinship and ancestry systems. Symbolic meanings of social organizations and ceremonies. Anthropology of religion, communication, economics, education, film and photography, history, journalism, law, linguistics, literature, medicine, political science and sociology.

This course aims to provide students with a framework of cultural anthropology.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. define key themes in cultural anthropology,
2. explain different theories about human culture, social identity, economic entities, political systems, and other forms of social organization,
3. contextualize the primary objectives, fundamental concepts, modes of analysis, and central questions in the cultural anthropology,
4. use critical thinking skills,
5. express knowledge and proficiency in speaking about central issues in the cultural anthropology
