Catalog Description
Basic concepts of science education. Science and technology literacy. Science-technology-society-environment relationship. Historical development of science education. Characteristics of primary school science program. Constructivist approach and science learning. Teaching- learning methods and techniques related with constructivist approach and sample applications.
Course Objectives
This course aims to provide undergraduate primary school students with basic knowledge and skills on teaching science topics.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- define science, technology and basic concepts of science education,
- explain the concepts of science and technology literacy,
- explain the historical development of science education,
- state the goals of primary school science program,
- design lesson plans according to constructivist approach,
- apply constructivist learning methods and techniques in teaching-learning process.
