Course Objectives

This course aims to familiarize teacher candidates with the teaching profession and the classroom under the supervision of a mentor teacher. The aim of the course is to enable teacher candidates to observe the teacher’s daily work at school, collaborate with the teacher in managing a lesson, implementing part of a lesson, assisting in the preparation of materials and activities, proctoring exams and grading student assignments under guidance.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

 

  1. identify a teacher’s daily work at school,
  2. observe the educational practices being undertaken in the classroom,
  3. plan short teaching activities to assist the mentor teacher,
  4. implement part of a lesson in collaboration with the mentor teacher,
  5. evaluate students’ assignments under the supervision of a mentor teacher,
  6. reflect on learning and experience by keeping a portfolio.
