Catalog Description
Fundamental design terminology. Design process and design thinking. Historical and organisational context of industrial design as a profession. Relationship of industrial design to other design disciplines. Career paths and emerging issues in industrial design.
Course Objectives
This course aims to equip students with foundational background to understand and discuss the broad context within which industrial design functions, hence inspire interest in envisioning potential career options. Familiarisation with the basics of the design concepts, processes and terminology aims to prepare students to evaluate and discuss works of design, and comprehend the position of industrial design in relation to other design disciplines.
