This course introduces students to the major concepts, theories, and debates in gender studies and feminist political theory. It examines the role of gender in shaping political institutions, citizenship, political representation, public policy, nationalism, conflict, and global politics. The course further explores masculinities, femininities, and feminist movements as key dimensions of political life. Through theoretical discussions and comparative case studies, students develop the ability to analyze and critically evaluate political processes using feminist and intersectional perspectives.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Explain key concepts and theories in gender studies and feminist political theory,
2. Analyze how gender shapes political institutions, citizenship, representation, and public policy,
3. Evaluate the relationships between gender, power, nationalism, conflict, and global politics using comparative perspectives,
4. Apply feminist and intersectional analytical frameworks to contemporary political phenomena,
5. Construct coherent and evidence-based arguments on gender and politics through critical reading, discussion, and writing.
