Catalog Description
Introduction to the critical study of literature and literary production in an interdisciplinary and reflective manner. Knowledge and identification of literary and rhetorical devices. Critical, contextualized, and analytical discussion and evaluation of key literary genres and texts. Critical appreciation and evaluation of different modes of literary production with reference to major historical, political, epistemological, and literary paradigm shifts, centering around ideas of ‘nature’, ‘society’, and ‘the individual’. Survey of world literature, encompassing the ancient, medieval, early modern, and contemporary literary periods as well as different genres and modes of literary expression.
