Catalog Description
International climate policy and governance (UNFCCC, Paris Agreement) Sustainable development. EU Green Deal and components. Regulatory and sectoral implications of EU Green Deal. Turkish climate policy. Carbon pricing. Circular economy. Green finance. International governance of climate finance.
Course Objectives

The main aim of the course is explaining how international climate policy is shaping green transition process in daily business. The course intends to provide the background on international climate policy and sustainable development that is evolving through with formal and informal discussion platforms. Based on this background, the course will show how these policies are reflected to practice based on the EU Green Deal. It will also show how climate policy, especially EU policies are affecting Turkish environmental policy and institutions. It will also follow recent climate policy discussions that will be evolving throughout the timeline of course. 

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

1.Relate international climate policy and green transition process,

2.Identify formal and informal processes of international climate policy making processes,

3.Explain EU Green Deal and how its subcomponents will shape business environment,

4.Analyze sectoral implications of EU green deal and need for change in regulations, production standards, and reporting-verification processes in supply chain,

5.Interpret carbon pricing mechanisms, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms, and its impact on trade and economy, 

6.Associate green finance, international financial institutions, and development finance.
