The major aim of this course is to explore the key concepts, approaches and debates in 20th century political theory. The course provides a critical survey of basic trends of thought including liberalism, marxism, post-marxism, structuralism, post-structuralism, deconstructivism, and post-modernism.
Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. Demonstrate knowledge of key concepts, approaches and debates in 20th century political theory.
2. Assess the relevance of political theory to the issues in political practice.
3. Find and use primary sources of political theory.
4. Assess the relationship among political values and ideas and political action.
5. Develop critical thinking and skills in argument and debate.
6. Demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
7. Recognize and respect different identities and lifestyles.
