To gain knowledge on macrolinguistics: pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics; to compare linguistic features of L1 and L2; to make a link between linguistics and foreign language teaching.
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
1. Identify topics and subtopics of macrolinguistics,
2. Recognize language variation and contact,
3. Discuss language use in context,
4. Apply linguistics to foreign language teaching processes,
5. Experiment linguistic features in a variety of contexts,
6. Compare linguistic features of Turkish and English.
