Catalog Description
Structure and characteristics of electrical power systems. Smart grids. Renewable energy sources. Electrical modeling of transmission lines, transformers and generators. Representation of power systems. Bus admittance and bus impedance matrices. Load flow analysis. Symmetrical three-phase fault analysis.
Course Objectives

The course focuses on the fundamental models and methods utilized in power system analysis. The generality of these models and methods makes them equally applicable to the analysis of small-scale industrial power systems, local distribution grids, and national transmission systems.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successfully completed this course, students will be able to:
(1) Identify the models used for the representation of power system equipment, such as transformers, transmission lines, and generators,
(2) Understand analysis methods used for load flow and short circuit calculations,
(3) Implement load flow and short circuit analyses using proper equipment models and methods,
(4) Analyze the results obtained from calculations,
(5) Use analysis results for proper selection of equipment and systems,
(6) Design power systems in line with given technical requirements.
