Catalog Description

Introduction to project management, general description of construction industry. Types of construction contracts, legal responsibilities, risk management, change management. Typical organizational structures for construction companies and projects. Work scheduling by network time analysis, resource analysis and leveling. Project monitoring and control systems.

Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to prepare students towards practical issues faced in construction projects, and provide the necessary tools for scheduling.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Identify project management approaches applicable to the construction industry,
2. Apply scheduling techniques to manage construction projects,
3. Compare different contract types based on project needs, their risks and legal consequences,
4. Plan the start-up of a construction project,
5. Design a system for cost control of construction projects.
