Catalog Description
Revisiting theories of family counseling in terms of culturally sensitive way; comparing and contrasting the culture of the theories in which were developed and the native cultural characteristics of in which will be applied; recognition of cultural backgrounds of the family; reflecting the counselor competencies in practices.
Course Objectives
The course provides students with a framework for revisiting theories of family counseling in terms of culturally sensitive way.

- demonstrate understanding of multicultural and culture-specific considerations in family counseling.
- critique, compare and contrast variety of family counseling theories and intervention strategies based on a culturally sensitive approach.
- demonstrate knowledge of guidelines for selecting counseling approaches in working with culturally diverse families.
