Guidance Counselors Gathered at TED University for the 5th Career and University Preference Summit

The fifth Career and University Preference Summit for Educators, organized by the TED University Corporate Communications Directorate, was held on June 16, 2026, with both in-person and online participation. Bringing together guidance counselors from different regions of Türkiye, the summit focused on the transformation of education, career planning, and university preference processes in the age of artificial intelligence.

Held under the theme "A New Direction for Guidance in the Age of Artificial Intelligence," the event opened with remarks by Acting Rector of TED University, Prof. Levent Akdeniz, and Director General of the Turkish Education Association, Prof. Fatma Bıkmaz.

In the first session, Prof. Kürşat Çağıltay, Dean of the Faculty of Education at TED University, discussed the role of artificial intelligence in education from the perspectives of opportunities and governance models. Associate Professor Olcay Yılmaz from the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance at TED University addressed the changing dimensions of supporting students in a rapidly evolving world in his presentation titled "Career Guidance in the Age of Artificial Intelligence."

The summit also featured Alp Köksal, Director of Khan Academy Türkiye, who shared recent developments in AI-supported next-generation learning models and personalized education. Nur Erdem Özeren, Founder of the Young Career Academy, provided insights into emerging approaches to guidance and counseling.

During the workshop sessions, participants had the opportunity to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on professions through different scenarios and engage in collaborative idea generation. In the final session of the day, Onur Soğuk and Muhammet Tosun evaluated emerging trends in university preferences in light of current data and field experience.

Now in its fifth year, the Career and University Preference Summit for Educators once again demonstrated its value as an important platform that contributes to the professional development of guidance counselors while strengthening the exchange of knowledge and experience among stakeholders in the education community.
