Following the devastating earthquakes affecting 11 cities in southeastern Turkey in February, a fieldwork project entitled “Damage Assessment Study on the Building Retrofitted in 2009” was conducted by our faculty members by Assoc. Profs. Rıza Secer Orkun, Can Baran Aktaş, Cem Akgüner, and Research Assistant Mehmet Fırat Aydın. The project realized in Antakya, Hatay, between March 2nd and 4th, 2023, was supported by TÜBİTAK 1002-C Emergency Support Program for Reconnaissance Study Focusing on Natural Disasters Program. The Dean of Engineering Faculty – Civil Engineering Department faculty members Prof. Güney Özcebe and Mustafa Tümer Tan, whose master thesis was the basis for the retrofitting of the building, and the project team took part in the assessment study.
