Catalog Description
The links between city or urban design theory and practice. The place of property relations in the evolution of urban space. The difference between city design and urban design. Design processes. Appraisal of real projects by developing algorithmic analysis; implemented and not implemented. Principles of urban design briefing.
Course Objectives

The course objective is to link urban design theory to practical works. For this end real projects will be analyzed from the perspective of stake holders and the philosophy of urban design projects. Positive and negative outcomes of the projects shall be interrogated by the students. 

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1) Understand background of case studies in urban or city design. 

2) Develop insights with reference to theory and practice. 

3) Understand the conceptual and philosophical motives of the design.

4) Interrogate successes and failures of implementation.
