Catalog Description
Concepts of signals and systems, linear time-invariant systems, fourier series representation of periodic signals, continuous-time fourier transform, discrete-time fourier transform, time and frequency characterization of signals and systems, sampling.
Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to introduce properties of signals and systems, linear time-invariant systems, convolution, fourier transform techniques for periodic and aperiodic signals, how to characterize signals and systems in time and frequency domains, and sampling. The course also provides students with state-of-the-art information about embedded systems, speech processing, image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to;
- Recognize the concepts of discrete-time and continuous-time signals,
- Analyze linear time-invariant system properties, convolution sum and integral,
- Identify Fourier series representations and Fourier transform of continuous-time and discrete-time signals,
- Apply filtering and sampling on signals,
- Analyze Z-Transform of signals.
