Early childhood development and learning theories. Scholars of early childhood education. Curriculum models and approaches in early childhood education. Design, development, and assessment of early childhood curriculum.
Course Objectives

Course aims to equip pre service teachers’ with the ability of designing and implementing early childhood curriculums that is developmentally and culturally appropriate, to give them a knowledge in early childhood curriculum, different appropaches and models.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to; 

1. Critique the theories of child development and learning 

2. Compare the curricular approaches and models in early childhood education. 

3. Develop strategies and tools for meeting the needs of diverse children in the classroom 

4. Design early childhood curriculum plans that consider the individual differences among young children 

5. Generate an early childhood curriculum framework that fosters growth of all children 

6. Refine their personal belief systems concerning the teaching and learning process and the role of the teacher in this process
