Catalog Description
The role of economic analysis in the design, evaluation, and implementation of economic policy. A broad overview of major policy issues in economics and other relevant disciplines. Formal definitions of causation versus correlation. Standard quantitative policy evaluation (experimental, quasi-experimental, and non-experimental) methods. The use of counterfactual outcomes in policy evaluation. A selective survey of breakthrough policy-evaluation examples. The influence of policy research on decision making.
