Catalog Description
Music teaching methods and techniques, note teaching techniques, using rhythm and melody to organize songs for children with orff instruments, effective use of the instrument in song teaching, relationship between game, music, dance, drama and speech, development of musical appreciation with music-aesthetics relationship, associating with other disciplines, activities related to primary music program.
Course Objectives
Aim of this course is to make students comprehend about teaching methods and techniques, note teaching techniques to gain knowledge of fundamentals and components in music education; to recognize and design appropriate music learning centers; to have the competency of planning and implementing music activities and to have the knowledge of music programs used in primary music education.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Acquiring musical culture and being able to read music, playing instruments
- Recognize the types of music and appreciate music as a social and historical phenomenon
- Develop a repertoire of children's songs and demonstrate the ability to teach songs with correct vocal pedagogy
- Organize musical experiences to foster creativity in early and elementary education
- Integrate music into all curriculum areas by using materials and methods of teaching music
- Collect songs, rhymes, listening examples and technological resources appropriate for use in a classroom
- Organize a classroom environment in which children interact with musical materials and develop expression through music
