Catalog Description
Definition, function, and place of speculative fiction in literary history. Analysis of the role of the concept of "speculation" in literature, particularly in genres such as fantasy, science fiction, magical realism, alternative history writing, and utopian and dystopian literature. Investigation of the cultural, political, and social functions of speculative fiction as a literary genre in light of key theoretical and artistic approaches.
