TEDU Orientation Program'18

The Orientation Program ’18 for the newest TEDU Members  was held between September 13 and 14 in cooperation with the TEDU Student Council.

The Program was inaugurated with keynote addresses by Prof. Dr. Belgin Ayvaşık, our Rector and Selçuk Pehlivanoğlu, our Chairman of the Board of Trustees on September 13th, 2018, Thursday. Following this, Mr. Levent Erkan met with the newest TEDU members within the framework of ELS Program. Mr. Erkan underlined the importance of English proficiency and advised the new members of TEDU to appreciate the value of being in this environment, emphasizing how lucky were they. Subsequently, Assoc. Dr. Meltem Huri Baturay, TEDU Faculty of Education Instructor and Director of Center of Teaching and Learning made a presentation on “Being a student in a Student Centered Education System.”

After the end of seminars, the newest members of TEDU, who found opportunity to get to know each other through the traditional “Speed Meeting” game, had a good time playing various games in the framework of “Ice Breaking Games” later that day. The first day of the Orientation Program ended with outdoor movie screening in the evening.

The Newest TEDU members started the second day of the Orientation Program with meeting their deans. They had opportunity to acquaint with their deans while they were given detailed information on their departments. Later, an introduction was made on administrative departments, where the students would receive support during their education period at the university. Following this, Assoc. Dr. Meltem Huri Baturay, TEDU Faculty of Education Instructor and Director of Center of Teaching and Learning given information on “Peer Support,” “Mentor Support,” and “I’ve Learned-I Teach” programs and answered the questions from students.

After the seminars, students were given information on the societies at respective desks and made applications according to their interests within the framework of activities of TEDU Student Societies, and played various games.

The Orientation Program ended with a concert by “Grup Roka” the band of our university, where the newest members of TEDU had fun until late in the evening.
