THE FIRST NOVEMBER 10th MOURNING OF TURKISH NATION: THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF ATATURK’S PASSING (NOVEMBER 10th, 1939)
As part of the events for commemorating Ataturk, Prof. Dr. Temuçin Faik Ertan, Ankara University, Institute for the History of Turkish Revolution, gave a talk at our university about “the First November 10th Mourning of Turkish Nation: The First Anniversary of Ataturk’s passing.”
Prof. Dr. Temuçin Faik Ertan started his talk explaining why he found it necessary to conduct a study on the first anniversary of Ataturk’s passing. He continued his speech emphasizing the meaning of “commemoration” for a nation. Prof. Dr. Ertan shared examples of ceremonial programs for the commemoration of Atatürk on November 10th, 1939 to be followed by the public institutions of the day as instructed by the State of the Republic of Turkey.
