Issues and challenges for sustainable development. Architectural and urban design strategies driven by ecological and climatic inputs. Sustainable design principles. Green building assessment and green building certifications.
Course Learning Outcomes

1. develop an understanding of the interrelationships and interactions between Man and Environment in different scales including the global scale and the building scale

2. develop awareness towards the responsibility of the architect in preventing and solving environmental problems

3. develop awareness towards decreasing consumption of energy and resources as well as reducing the carbon footprint of buildings

4. develop architectural design strategies embracing ecological and climatic inputs

5. assess and apply the criteria for green building
