The goal of this course is to expose students to a real-life industrial engineering problem observed in a manufacturing or service organization and to the initial phases of a system design. In this course, students identify and define an industrial engineering problem, analyze the current system, design the system and its architecture conceptually, and formulate models that help analyze and/or solve the problems.
Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. Identify and define an industrial engineering problem (B4, e)
2. Analyze current system by collecting and interpreting data (B4, b2)
3. Generate a conceptual system design and architecture (B5, c)
4. Formulate models to describe and improve current system (B5, e)
5. Undertake a functional role in the team work (B3, d)
6. Exhibit professional and ethical responsibility (B3, f)
7. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills (B3, g2)
8. Learn new concepts on their own required for solving the problem under concern (B3, i)
