Catalog Description
Introduction to computer-assisted language learning (CALL) and technology-enhanced language learning (TELL). History of CALL/TELL. CALL/TELL and second language acquisition. Principles of using technology in language classes. The role of technology in language learning and teaching. Appropriate and effective evaluation, selection, adaptation, and use of technological tools for language learning and teaching purposes. Technology-enhanced reading, writing, vocabulary, speaking, listening and pronunciation, and integrated language teaching skills.

At the end of this class, students will be able to;

  • Conceptualize the concept of instructional technologies and Computer Assisted Language Teaching (CALL).
  • Review and analyze selected current research that discusses the use of technologies in improving language teaching and learning.
  • Recognize the value of using technologies in language learning.
  • Review and evaluate current instructional technologies and computer applications in language teaching/learning.
  • Know how to be selective in bringing different technologies into classrooms for teaching language skills.
  • Develop your own technology-enhanced teaching materials.
