Catalog Description

Geographical, social, and economic factors influencing the Turkish education system, practices and policies on meeting the needs of students in rural and dispersed areas; mobile teaching, advantages and disadvantages of mobile teaching; regional primary boarding schools, advantages and disadvantages of regional primary boarding schools; teaching in multigrade classes, factors leading to multigrade classes, the rationale for teaching in multigrade classes, instructional planning in multigrade classes, classroom management in multigrade classes, assessment/evaluation in multigrade classes, roles of teachers in multigrade classes, exemplary practices of teaching in multigrade classes in different countries.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Analyze the geographical, social, and economic factors influencing the Turkish education system.
2. Discuss the practices and policies on meeting the needs of students in rural and dispersed areas.
3. Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of mobile teaching.
4. Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of regional primary boarding schools.
5. Discuss the factors leading to, and the rationale for teaching in multigrade classes.
6. Develop instructional activities and assessment/evalaution techniques for teaching in multigrade classes.
7. Discuss the roles of teachers in multigrade classes.
8. Evaluate the exemplary practices of teaching in multigrade classes in different countries.
