What is TED University Commission for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Assault (CTS)?

TED University Commission for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Assault (CTS) aims to create an academic research, learning, and working environment that is entirely free from all forms of sexual discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender-based assault, sexual harassment, sexual abuse or any other reason. To achieve these goals, our Commission carries out activities for the operation of necessary prevention, evaluation, support and empowerment, and sanction mechanisms.

What are Sexual Harassment and Assault?

Sexual harassment refers to words, attitudes, or other forms of sexual behavior carried out without physical contact, which are not based on the person’s consent, and do not need to be continuous.

Sexual assault refers to violating a person's physical integrity by non-consensual sexual behavior.

Sexual abuse refers to acts of sexual assault and harassment against minors under the age of 18.

Persistent stalking refers to all kinds of sexual attitudes and behaviors that create a sense of physical or psychological fear and helplessness in the person and put pressure on the person in a way that causes the person to worry about their safety, whether verbally, in writing or by using any means of communication.

Who Can Apply to the Commission?

TED University Commission for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Assault Directive covers all university members, including TED University students and academic and administrative staff. All university members who think they have been sexually harassed and/or assaulted can apply to our Commission.

How Can I Apply to the Commission?

It is significant for the efficient operation of the process that university members who think they have been sexually harassed and/or assaulted make their applications to our Commission. To apply to the commission, you must fill in the application form. Anonymous applications will not be considered. All applications will be carried out based on confidentiality, and the process will not be shared with any person or institution without the applicant’s permission. In cases where it is necessary to implement enforcement mechanisms into action, information to the administrative and academic units will not be given without the applicant’s consent.

How Does The Process Continue?

After the application reaches the Commission, the Commission members quickly evaluate the application and reach the applicant by using the contact information indicated in the application form. The Commission gives an appointment to the applicant to meet face-to-face when necessary and informs them about the most appropriate options and processes for their demands and needs.
