Catalog Description
The basic knowledge of French. Grammatical pattern acquisition. Reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension skills. Geared to A1.1 and to a part of A1.2 of the A1 level of CEFR.
Course Objectives

This course is designed for students without previous knowledge of the language. In this course, the four language skills will be developed: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The course will also introduce students to French speaking countries and cultures around the world.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon the conclusion of this course, students will be able to

1.Recognize short, simple conversations and narratives in the target language, within highly predictable and familiar contexts,

2.Read short simple texts in the target language,

3.Identify predictable information and vocabulary in simple everyday familiar topics,

4.Write short compositions on very familiar topics in the target language, using learned vocabulary and structures,

5.Demonstrate awareness of historical and cultural values of the Francophone world.
